He began with his acting pursuits at a very younger age and was signed by his first agency when he was only 5 years old.

In October 2012, Maceo Smedley booked his first national commercial.

He made his first TV show appearance by playing the role of James, Ernestine’s youngest child and the younger brother of Sam and Rosalee, in an episode titled The Macon 7 of the period drama series, Underground, starring Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Aldis Hodge, Jessica De Gouw, Alano Miller, and Amirah Vann.

Alongside Joseph “Rev Run” Simmons, Kiana Ledé, and Leah Rose Randall, Maceo Smedley co-starred as Daevon Washington, Joey’s and Justine’s youngest son, in the comedy web television series, All About the Washingtons, in 2018.

Between 2018 and 2019, he brought to life the character of Young Tyrone in a few episodes of the romantic sci-fi teen drama superhero television series, Cloak & Dagger. The show stars Olivia Holt, Aubrey Joseph, J. D. Evermore, Carl Lundstedt, Emma Lahana, and Jaime Zevallos.
